If your nose is wrinkling when you get in your car, it could be something more serious than forgotten gym socks. You could need brake repair or other auto care.
You’ve recently found yourself holding your nose while driving your car. At first, you thought a skunk might have hitched a ride. Or, that it might be a rotten hamburger that fell under the seat when your kid jumped out of the car on your last visit to Mardi Gras World. But a search of the car turned up nothing more than some pocket change. Nothing smelly. Now you’re wondering whether you should bring your car by Twin Tire and Auto Care to let our ASE-certified mechanics have a sniff.
That’s a good idea. As Popular Mechanics says, “There are plenty of … smells emanating from your car. Some of them are perfectly normal, even if they’re annoying. Other odors are definitely evidence of Something Wrong.”
For example, a sweet smell, kind of like maple syrup, likely means coolant is leaking. That could be something as simple as a loose radiator cap. Or something worse, like a blown head gasket or a bad heater core. A hot oil burning smell could mean your crankshaft seal is leaking. A burnt carpet smell could mean you’re riding your brakes; you left the handbrake on; or you need a brake repair job because your brake caliper piston is seized up.
Twin Tire’s auto mechanics can sniff out the cause and get your car back on the road again. Twin Tire has been providing auto care to the greater New Orleans area for more than 41 years. We have three convenient auto repair locations in Marrero, Hammond and Harvey to handle cars and light trucks. For heavy trucks and commercial vehicles, try our Harahan location. We provide service and car repair to all types of vehicles – traditional gas powered, hybrid, diesel and electric.
Twin Tire is also a proud sponsor, with Fisher Middle-High School, of Toys for Tots. We’d appreciate it if you’d buy one (or more) toys this Christmas season. You don’t have to wrap the toy, just drop it by the school, 2529 Jean Lafitte Blvd., Lafitte, by Thursday (Dec. 11). The Bess Harvey Chapter of the National Honor Society will take charge and Twin Tire will come pick up the gifts. (Students who bring in donations will be awarded a ticket for a jeans and Christmas attire day.)
If you can’t get by the school, then drop the gift(s) off at one of Twin Tire’s locations by Saturday (Dec. 13): 42296 Veterans Ave. in Hammond; 1200 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey; 2195 Barataria Blvd. in Marrero; or at our commercial and heavy truck location, 5712 Jarvis St. in Harahan. Again, don’t worry about wrapping. Toys for Tots will take care of that.
If you drop the toy(s) off at one of the Twin Tire locations, you’ll get a gift in return: $7 off any service or a gift certificate for $7 off future service at from Twin Tire.
Help make a child’s Christmas a bit brighter by helping the Fisher Gators and Twin Tire support Toys for Tots!
