Road Trip This Weekend? | Auto Air

Get your auto air and other systems checked out before you go anywhere this Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day is Monday and that’s the cue for an estimated 37-plus million of us to take to the roads to enjoy a three-day weekend. It’s also a good time, says the nonprofit Car Care Council, to make sure your car is in good shape. That’s good advice whether you’re sticking around New Orleans or going further afield, say to Gonzales for the Jambalaya Festival, Shreveport for Mudbug Madness, or both.

“According to AAA, more than 37 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the highest in 10 years, and over 88 percent of them will go by car, an increase of 5.3 percent over last year,” said Rich White, the council’s executive director. “While it won’t solve a traffic jam, a quick vehicle inspection can help you avoid the hassle and unexpected cost of a breakdown away from home.”

The council recommends you at least check the fluid levels, hoses and belts, wipers and lighting, and tires before you get on the road. Considering the weather here in Louisiana, you probably also want to check your auto air before you find yourself sweltering in the heat. You can eyeball all those items yourself, or you could have the professionals at Twin Tire and Auto Care do those checks for you and take care of any problems you might have.

Twin Tire has been the trusted auto care and tire service shop in the greater New Orleans area since 1973. Whether you need new tires or auto air service, Twin Tire is the shop to call. We have three locations to service cars and light trucks – Marrero, Hammond and Harvey – and one location for heavy, commercial vehicles – Harahan. And, we’re open Memorial Day so if you need a/c service, tires or any other auto repair service, we’ll be here.
