It’s Cooler, But Still Hot | Auto Air Conditioning

It’s cooler now but you should still make sure you get auto air service for the safety and comfort of you and your children.

Autumn officially arrived this week. And autumn brought some relief from the sweltering temperatures of New Orleans’ summers. But just because the temperatures have dropped a bit, doesn’t mean parents should be any less watchful about the possibility of heat stroke for children left in cars. As safercar.gov points out: “Heatstroke can happen on cloudy days and in outside temperatures below 70 degrees.” That’s in part because children overheat up to five times faster than adults.

Of course, the best way to prevent heatstroke and possible death of children in hot cars, safercars.gov says, is to NEVER leave a leave a child alone in a car, even for a few minutes, and even if the auto air is on. Or even with a window open. An open car window will not prevent heat stroke. So you should always check to make sure your kids are out of the car before you lock it and head off to shop or go into the house.

You should also make sure your auto air conditioning is working. It’s not okay to leave a child in a car alone even if the auto air is working. But, it will help the child’s (and your) comfort while driving. And the best place in the New Orleans area to get auto air service or auto air repair is Twin Tire and Auto Care.
