All those noises you hear are your vehicle’s way of telling you if everything is okay or if a car repair is needed.
Have you ever heard a real car buff say his (or her) car talks? Well, it’s true. All those noises a car makes are its version of communication. You just have to understand the language. Some of it is good – like the noise your car makes when it roars to life after you turn the key. And that kind of purring as you drive it down the road. But some noises aren’t so good and mean your vehicle is sick and needs car repair. Those are the obnoxious squealing, screeching, grinding, hissing and rattling noises.
The trick is to know what those noises mean.
Squealing, screeching, or grinding when you put on the brakes all mean you have a brake problem. That could be anything from needing a new rotor to needing new calipers or brake pads. Or all three, according to Angie’s List. If your car has sputtering, rattling, or rumbling noises, you probably have a problem with your exhaust system. Chirping or squealing from under the hood? Could be a loose belt. And humming, roaring or growling while driving? Might be worn tires. Or, worse, a wheel bearing.
The best thing you can do if you hear a funny noise coming from your car is to bring it to Twin Tire and Auto Care. We speak fluent car and have for more than 41 years. We have three convenient car repair locations in Marrero, Hammond and Harvey to handle cars and light trucks. For heavy trucks and commercial vehicles, try our Harahan location. We provide service and car repair to all types of vehicles – traditional gas powered, hybrid, diesel and electric. We’ll track down the source of those odd noises and fix things so your engine is purring again.
